Office 2007

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

Well it’s been a minute since I last posted to this blog. The time has gone by so fast and for about 2 weeks I have been sicker than a dog. Well enough about my personal issues let’s get down to business.

I received a copy of Office Professional 2007 from a Meeting I attended back in May. I wasn’t sure it was going to be a full copy but I attended the function and at the first break we were all given a full copy of Office Professional 2007. The truth here…The presenter should have waited till the end to give out a copy of the software, because by midsession at least 15% of the attendees left the room.

At PinTECH Systems we make a lot of recommendations about software & hardware. We try to stay natural and never go with a solution just because it helps our bottom line. We listen to our Clients we try to understand what the true problems are that they have and how we can help to solve them.

I have to say the new UI “User Interface” that Microsoft has put in place for their new Office products is a bit confusing at first. It takes about a week you get used to and then the benefits start to blossom. At this point I want to make one thing very clear, MEMORY is your friend with any of the new MS products. It just seems that as the years go by the more and more you have to rely on MEMORY. I have 1GB of RAM on my Dell D600 and I have to say its working my machine over to the MAX. I need to add another 1GB MEMORY chip in my system and I’ll probably be back to as good as new.

Remember the changes take some getting used to, but with time, and MEMORY you will notice the advantages very quickly. PinTECH Team

Microsoft Momentum

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Today I sat down with a group of people looking at the new products Microsoft launched in 2007. The event was all about Office 2007, Groove 2007, and Share Point 2007. These three products are awesome! The presenter Chris Ertz was great he is very good at presenting and staying on topic. As you know in a room full of techies we have questions that can take you off topic and make the event a real bore. Chris was great; the event flowed very well from start to finish. I was a bit late “Atlanta Traffic”.

Share point was awesome the features you get are awesome also at a great price FREE. Now you know that only applies to the simple Share Point if you go with Office Share Point and some other flavors there is a cost. Every company can gain great strides in implementing a Share Point site for projects, or departments.

Groove takes the collaboration event further down the road; it lets you really get collaboration going between your site or company and another company at anytime. Remember the capabilities are many and the management of these systems is all very well thought out.

We will be doing some Share Point and Groove testing in the coming months check back to this BLOG for details.
